  Suzhou NanoGrid Technology Co., Ltd.(NGT) is a startup company dedicated to developing nanomaterials-based products employing printing-based manufacturing technologies. NGT was founded in January 2011 by Dr. Zheng Cui who worked in the UK for 20 years, first at Cambridge University then at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory as a principal scientist and a group leader. In September 2009, Dr. Cui returned to China and joined the Suzhou Institute of Nanotech, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he setup the Printable Electronics Research Center (PERC) which was the first and is now the leading research center in China in the area of printed electronics R&D. NGT is intended to be the base of industrialization and commercialization for the PERC.

  Since founded, NGT has developed a proprietary transparent conductive film (TCF) based on printed metal grids and built up a portfolio of patents around the technology. The film is superior to the currently dominant ITO film for touch panel sensors in terms of conductivity, transparency, flexibility and cost of manufacturing. Unlike other ITO-alternative technologies, NGT¡¯s technology can merge the conductive coating, touch electrodes patterning and peripheral connection into one step manufacturing process, which is revolutionary in the manufacturing of touch panel sensors. In order for the NGT¡¯s revolutionary product to quickly enter the touch panel sensor market, NGT has transferred the technology to the No.1 TP sensor manufacturer in China for volume production. The new product will soon be seen in major brands of tablet and notebook computers.

  After the first successful technology development, NGT has started its next target, to develop functional nanomaterials and sensors for air pollution monitoring application. NGT has come up with a specially functionalized nanomaterial which can detect trace of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a hazardous substance released from paint or lacquer in new furniture. It is commonly found in newly decorated homes and has become a major concern for health. NGT is currently developing a low cost sensor device and portable instruments for detecting and monitoring formaldehyde for mass market.
